Volodymyr Zelenskyy was born to Jewish parents and grew up speaking Russia fluently, as well as Ukrainian and English languages. Zelenskyy earned a law degree in 2000 and was certified to practice law following graduation, but he chose to pursue a different path and discovered his true passion as an artist. Zelenskyy was particularly active in theatre as a student. He starred in Rzhevskiy Versus Napoleon (2012) and the romantic comedy 8 First Dates (2012) and 8 New Dates (2012). (2015). The role that made him famous was that of Vasily Goloborodko, a 30-year-old high school teacher who wakes up one morning to find out he has been elected president of the country on "Servant of the People." This was the comedy that paved the way for him to run for president. When Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced his decision to enter politics, he opted to take a different path. Because of his lack of political experience and expertise in the entertainment industry, Zelenskyy was dubbed a Ukrainian Donald Trump when he entered the presidential campaign in Ukraine. This is the television comedian who defied Putin's soldiers.
