There are, however, other areas and islands nearby that are also worth a visit such as the cemetery island of San Michele, Murano, which is famous for its glass production, and Burano that has been noted for its colorful houses and lace making.

A short 10-minute boat ride will also take you across the Venice Lagoon to the narrow island of Lido di Venezia. This is where the film festival is held each year and where you will find a beautifully peaceful beach.
