THE RECKONING presents a classic, modern-day tragedy with a tight, three-act Aristotelian structure. The characters set their souls free for all eternity in Homeric artin eloquent monologues and heroic actions which ascend the pinnacles of the human spirit and plumb the depths of the soul. The plot and subplots are unified with a strong moral premise revealed in the very first lines as our heroine Mary McCoy quotes Abraham Lincoln: "Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves  and, under a just God, cannot long retain it." The classical themes of love, betrayal, tragedy, and redemption which plaid out during the Civil War return to envelop, afflict, and exalt the documentarians in their own lives.

Regarding the screenplay, the former Vice President of Development at United Artists writes, "The hardest thing to accomplish in screenwriting is a fresh, compelling story. Youve created a complex, utterly entertaining story in your telling of the McCoy Mountain legend. Your screenplay has great commercial potential. . . A major studio is the best production entity. . .
