It is the ability to overcome your weaknesses and be strong enough to resist the temptations that may come your way (and you will have many, believe me). If you think doing that is easy, then you are probably superhuman or even a robot.
We may not share the same weaknesses, but as humans, we all have weaknesses. It can be something material or immaterial, it can be tangible or non-tangible, it can even be a living being like other humans or animals. Every time you see these objects, these weaknesses, your determination weakens and you lose your self-control. In some cases, even your self-esteem.
Overcoming your weaknesses is necessary for you to succeed in the discipline. Why? Simply put, you have no choice. Temptations and obstacles will stand in your way of success and it is important that you avoid them at all costs. If you fail, if you give in to your weaknesses, then you will also fail big time in self-discipline.
