I absolutely loved this book! Lily Emerson is an unlikely heroine with whom I could easily identify. She has her flaws, but she struggles through them with incredible determination and a strong moral fiber. She's a young woman coming into her own who's afraid, yet brave enough to take a stand. That being said, she quickly gains the admiration of Xander, an engineer and mysterious jack-of-all-trades, who has always had a singular motivation: vengeance until he meets her. With Barrage Tournament (and with it an opportunity to change the law and save the people from terrifying oppression) looming in the forefront, the unlikely duo find their goals align.
