Description of
The Moscow Deception: An International Spy Thriller (The Guardian Book 2)
I am thoroughly enjoying Karen Robard's new series, although it's always hard to wait if the story is told in installments. The romance is obviously going to happen in the third book, as the cliffhanger indicates. I thought the "cliffhangers" in both books were great they set up the reader's anticipation for the next installment. I liked the first book more than the second. Robard could have left out the gang problem early in the book, and made the Russian heist more difficult and involved. I read all of the reviews, and the 1 and 2 star reviews baffled me. Readers do understand that the story is being told in three books, don't they? Why would they expect to have a tidy ending to each installment, and with the love story consummated? If a reader can't stand to be left hanging, then wait until all of the books are out, and read them in order, instead of complaining that they have to wait for the rest of the story. Most romantic suspense novels have a strong alpha male, usually military or ex-spy, and a female protagonist who needs to be protected or rescued. I like the twist that Bianca is at least as strong, or stronger, than Colin, and so far has outwitted (or out-punched) him at every turn. It should make for a more interesting relationship dynamic in the end.
