Description of
Desert Bound (Cambio Springs) (Volume 2)
The second installment in the Cambio Springs series, Desert Bound provides a deeper glimpse into the cloistered world of humans who regularly take the form of wolves, snakes, bears, birds and other desert creatures. We learn much more about their politics and their relationships within this fantasy world that Ms. Hunter has taken great pains to make believable thus greatly expanding and clarifying the mythos of the shapeshifter. As for the characters, the rekindling of Alex's and Teodora's romance first glimpsed in Shifting Dreams is hard fought, deeply romantic and heart satisfying. The central mystery is tension filled and the resolution, while not unexpected, was well done. And, even though Desert Bound is a complete work, the groundwork had been laid for the next book in the series: the story of Ollie and Allie. Hmmm... My only criticism is that there is a vast number of secondary characters and I struggled at times with keeping them all straight. However, that is small criticism in a vast sea of literary riches. All in all, another superb effort from Ms. Hunter.
