Description of  The Laird (Captive Hearts)

When I saw early on what the nature of the villain would prove to be, I continued reading this with great reluctance. The villain is indeed foul, but this didn't overpower the story. Far from it. This is truly a beautiful, sensitive, love story, carefully developed throughout the length of the novel. Background: Michael, the Laird, left Brenna immediately after their marriage to fight in the Napoleonic Wars. Brenna, so young, was left with all the burdens of responsibility in the face of also having to deal with the villain. Now Michael has returned.
