This particular story is quite chilling and really gives us an idea of what Kate was like *before* the very first book. This story takes place before the very first book and is about her first case in the park since she 'retired'. Asked to investigate the Russian Roulette deaths of three kids, she manages to track a bootlegger down and serve a sort of 'park' justice.
