The present volume combines the contributions of the 2nd and 3rd Melammu Workshops - The 2nd Workshop focusses on the development of literature and literary texts: Why are there and how can we explain literary changes in the tradition of the sub-corpus we are working on? - The Melammu Project is dedicated to study the continuity, transformation and expansion of Mesopotamian culture by means of comparative analyses of the documentary and iconographic materials and the identification of parallels and mutual influences, in particular with the Classical world. In order to study how these parallels came into being, the 3rd Melammu Workshop focusses on the individuals who transmitted this knowledge. Land and sea-routes linking the East with the West were conduits for people and goods and fostered the spread of ideas and technologies in both directions. A study of the itineraries and the conditions of travel is crucial to an understanding of the ways of cultural exchange. Read more
