Description of  Searching for Dragons: The Enchanted Forest Chronicles

"Searching for Dragons" isn't quite so good as "Dealing with Dragons," but then, there's not much that is, and the second volume of the Enchanted Forest Chronicles is a worthy sequel indeed. The story stands alone I believe I would have enjoyed it if I had read it in isolation, though much less than I did reading it in sequence, and it probably wouldn't have landed a place in my permanent collection. Wrede mangles fairy-tale conventions here with the same affection and wit that made "Dealing with Dragons" such a joy to read, and introduces several delightful new characters alongside the ones readers of the earlier novel will already have grown to love, but "Searching" is just a tad bit less tightly plotted, a bit less sparklingly original.
