Description of
Geopolitics of a Disorganized Planet: THE SHOCK OF THE ANTHROPOCENE 2025
Nonetheless, this developing planetary crisis is beginning to threaten a growing number of countries with massive destruction, through the double effect of extreme weather events and the acceleration of sea level rise. This threat is exerted as much on the overpopulated coasts of South Asia, as on the economic development of countries and regions developed and vulnerable by the ocean of the Anthropocene. The ultraviolence of the various manifestations of the Anthropocene is then revealed by its radical character which endangers not only social structures, but also the lives of populations and the capacity of States themselves to maintain them. This weakening States has perfectly tangible effects, as the study of the links between climate, war and collapse in Iraq, Syria and Egypt shows. Such dynamics can and risk reproducing in many areas of the planet. If this book describes a universe of threats that test the living conditions of human societies, leading the reader to different hot spots of the new planetary geopolitics that is emerging, it is because we are convinced that awareness of the scale of the threat is needed. It is through this strategic awareness that it will be possible to respond to this threat to bring about a future that, together, we can continue to inhabit.
