Description of
Edupreneur: Unleashing Teacher Led Innovation in Schools
At Education Changemakers (EC) we work with educators to unleash teacher led innovation in schools. Much of this work is done through our twelve month programs and shorter keynotes and workshops. Many participants in these programs express their desire to have an inspiring and highly practical play-book that they can refer back to and share in their staff rooms. We believe powerfully in the ideas and processes we have built over the last four years and are now ready to take these to a much larger audience. It is our belief that many education publications focus a great deal on 'what' changes are need and 'why' they are needed. We feel that many educators know that change is required yet lack the support, processes and inspiration to create ideas and share them widely. This book most certainly helps them with the 'HOW' giving educators a license to lead and unleash innovation from the classroom up. This book is very deliberately for teachers and school leaders and is written in a very different manner to many books that have been published in the education sector. Many publications are written as research texts, and provide compelling cases for the need for change in education. These can be overwhelming for teachers working day-in-day-out, trying to improve their practice. This book is written in a similar manner to the 'Rework' and 'Remote' books from the 37 Signals team, and also the writings of Seth Godin's 'Purple Cow' and 'Tribes'. We don't want it to be a heavy, cumbersome academic book. Instead we want people to say 'I read this book, it was fun, easy to get through, I learned a great deal that I could apply in my class and my school is already changing. You should read it too!' Readers step through four key phases where they DREAM about what is possible, DIG down into the problems they are up against, MAKE new solutions to meet those problems, and then learn how to grow and SHARE these ideas with other educators.
