WWII Aircraft Vol.II: Modeling, Detailing, Painting Weathering and Building Dioramas
0000000000 pdf Following on the heals of the highly successful volume I in this new series, this edition continues the Verlinden legacy of beautifully photographed, incredibly detailed scale models displayed in attractive diorama settings. Again divided into six separate sections, the subjects in this book include three made by the professional staff at Verlinden Studios: a 1:48 scale German twin-engined Messerschmitt Bf 110G-4 nightfighter updated with highly detailed Verlinden Productions resin and photo-etched metal detail parts, a 1:48 scale Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress displayed after having been shot down over Europe, complete with very realistic flak and bullet holes, and finally, a pair of the revolutionary German Me-262 jet fighters, one a single-seat jet bomber, and the other a rare two-seat nightfighter. These two are again highly detailed with Verlinden Productions resin and photo-etched parts, and share a diorama base depicting a routine day on a Luftwaffe airbase, complete w! ith spare parts and maintenance equipment. Two models from Gordon Stronach, a highly skilled professional modeler from the Verlinden staff, are featured including a pair of exquisitely detailed 1:48 German JU-87 Stuka dive bombers undergoing engine changes in a North African setting, and a beautifully detailed and weathered1:48 Grumman F6F-5 Hellcat of the U.S. Navy undergouing routine maintenance on the deck of an aircraft carrier. Another accomplished modeler, Noel Lawson, is credited with a beautifully detailed and painted 1:32 scale SBD-5 Dauntless dive bomber of the U.S.Navy. Each article is supplemented with informative, step-by-step descriptions and photographs to show the reader how such beautiful results were achieved. A must for any serious scale modeler, as well as aviation enthusiasts and WWII buffs.
