Description of  A State of Kindness

As a child, Mary is forced into prostitution by her mother. When her mother dies, she is wrongly placed in an institution for the retarded. Working with disabled babies, she finds kindness in her heart. She is released to care for a retarded girl from a wealthy family. Mary feels responsible when the girl is murdered. She is healed by Charlie who, like her, wants to live life in a state of kindness.
