This is another good police procedural from Smith. He's a master of the craft who tells a compelling story that stands on its own without depending on a lot of interest from the chief investigator's private life. Paget is merely human. Smith has, I suspect, resisted the temptation to make Paget brilliant, eccentric, charismatic, or otherwise the superstar of the show, and I commend him for that.
