Description of
USS Enterprise (CV-6): The Most Decorated Ship of World War II - A Pictorial History
The USS Enterprise, commissioned in 1938, saw service in World War II from the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 to the Okinawa campaign in 1945. The battles that the ship participated in span the history of the war in the Pacific Midway, Guadalcanal, Eastern Solomons, Santa Cruz Islands, Truk, Saipan and Iwo Jima to name a few. She was to lose her last battle, however, as she was scrapped in 1958. The Enterprise will live on in the annals of United States naval history as the most decorated ship of World War II. The author presents a detailed narrative of the ship's twenty-year history including 130 black and white and color photographs.
