Built from 1954 to 1979, Douglas' Skyhawk had a longer production life than any other of the Free World's combat aircraft and served as the standard light attack carrier aircraft of the U.S. Navy for almost 20 years, providing the bulk of its striking power during much of the Vietnam War.
