Description of
300 Words to Boost Your Vocabulary
300 Words to Boost Your Vocabulary is an eBook designed with three goals in mind: 1. Help the reader add some big, uncommon words to his or her vocabulary. These words can be used to try and get dates on social media, to do better on placement tests, to impress people in general, or just to keep your cognition tight. 2. To provide the reader with the old-school, tried and true, simple and somewhat effective vocabulary-building technique that I came up with when I first realized that my own vocabulary wasn't up to snuff, as well as how I tweaked that technique as I gathered the words for this eBook. 3. Give the reader a mini history of English dictionaries and a brief etymology of all 300 words in this book by including the current Google definition of each word as well as the definitions from two very famous, centuries-old English dictionaries. This book is not a dictionary. It is a collection of challenging words I have found in the course of my reading and already looked up in the dictionary. I have transcribed them here for you so that you can check them out and learn some of them. They are not listed in alphabetical order. Rather, they are set down in the order that I found them. I think of this as a sort of Priddy book (Baby's First 100 Words) for adults. The idea is to look at the words every now and again and learn some of them through repetition. What could be simpler?
